STORY
When you choose Troy's for your landscaping project you'll do so knowing there are over 125 years of experience and expertise backing up your decision. Troy's has been serving Fairfield and Westchester counties since 1887 first as Mt. Hisarlik Nursery and starting in 1898 as Troy's Garden Nurseries. Troy's has operated under four generations of family management along with a staff of professional horticulturists.
Troy's was founded by John Troy in 1887 in New Rochelle NY; John being the great grandfather of John Troy III and Matthew Troy the current generation assisting in the nursery's operations. Like the successive generations of Troy's, John was a master plantsman and was widely recognized for his design skills and horticultural knowledge.
In 1905, John purchased the current nursery property in Bedford, which he and his son William Wylie Troy, used for growing and propagation. Troy's New Rochelle nursery remained the primary retail location.
As the suburbs expanded, William consolidated the entire operation at the Bedford site in 1943. Back then the historic post and beam barn was used to house draft horses and oxen for plowing the fields - hard to believe when you walk in today and find beautiful gift shop items, tools, and seasonal, decorative items for the home and garden.
In October of 2017, Ben Ceci, became the new owner of Troy's, with hopes to bring an outside perspective and new energy to the business in order to help beautify the area that he grew up in. Ben is a Greenwich High School graduate and holds a degree in landscape architecture from Pennsylvania State University. He uses that degree today to produce designs that help Troy's customers create the backyards of their dreams. After growing up in the industry and gaining experience performing high-end work and installing remarkable landscapes in the area, Ben has embraced his current role as the owner of Troy's, a company with such rich history. He enjoys working with the Troy family and they share the same goal of expansion and continuing the amazing legacy that Troy's customers have come to recognize and value over the last 130 years.
A lot has changed from 1887 to today. However, one thing that has remained the same is the skill and commitment of the entire staff at Troy's. Today's Troy's, aided by a staff of professionals, continue the long history of service to Fairfield and Westchester counties that John and William Troy began way back in 1887.
